If you want to be a fitter, faster rider, then you are going to need to do some structured training. At the heart of any training program is riding at certain intensities for different durations to create adaptations in your body.

And this is where the humble HR monitor comes in. By monitoring your heart rate, it tells you how hard you are working, so you can do accurate and effective training sessions on your bike.

The problem is that there is a lot of confusing information out there..... Do you use, 3, 5, 7 or even more training zones? What even is a, 'Zone?' How do you set your zones? Should you use 220 minus your age and go from there?
