I bought these on sale to give them a try. I normally use 5-10 but find I kill the soles very quickly. I weigh 240 pound (105kg).
The shoes are comfy when standing and pedalling on the bike. They are easy to get on and off; by this I mean the laces loosen and tighten, without having to pull more lace through tight holes to remove them.
I find the grip on the pedals absolutely fine, but I am heavy, so when I’m riding the bike stays pretty planted on the ground and I don’t get bucked much. They aren’t as grippy as most 5-10, but I think are grippier than specialised shoes.
The finish quality of the shoe is excellent and the material means they stay pretty clean (uk has been dry for some time though).
The only gripe I have had is when I’ve had to push my bike up the trail (Aston Hill). I normally pedal everything but you can’t here. The Ions rubbed my heel badly on this occasion. In fairness, they were new and may not have been broken in.
I really like these shoes and chose them to race in recently over 5-10s and they were faultless. I forgot they were on in a way!
Worth a try
