Oh wow 😬 i actually did terrible but still managed to go up a spot or 2 in the overall?
This round must have thrown everyone for a loop. I have done quite poorly under the new budget but it seems many others are feeling it (and those who were maybe struggling under the old system seem to be succeeding more now).
WOW best possible was a SIX rider roster... And Samantha was on it! Local girl woulda got yall some points!
Round winner was also a six rider roster so... Yeah, I guess that one poster was right. We may be essentially PinkBike fantasy now lol
I'll have to adjust to picking likely winners and a couple fill riders now. I thought a 10 rider roster was sensible but now that seems overkill unless there are a ton of upsets I guess? Hmm
I think one big thing that separates Vital from PB fantasy is the juniors. Although this season Jonty and Aletha / Lena have been so dominant it's tough to justify picking anyone else.

well thats the thing, not that they are NOT worth picking but... for best possible they only picked the elite winners. because when jonty (or aletha) wins so much the value isnt necessarily there. I'm not sure if it "needs" to be the case that the highest priced riders are still picked when they win... at the end of the day it could be an 'easy' choice if that were the case. tho it is a bummer for people who both want to pick the winner and / or want to pick their favorite rider even if they are most expensive.
I still think fantasy is in an ok place. Chances are there is somewhere between the old values and new that is optimal. It's possible we will 'get there' by end of the season
Bet big on Lachie, so that rear wheel explosion hurts! Somehow didn't lose that many positions.
I like that the budget+cost no longer favours a bunch of underdogs, but I do wish we could afford 2 top males and 2 top females + juniors. And I mean this just for engagement during the race, it's more fun when you have more fantasy riders to root for. Currently to get a team of 4+ elites, you are mostly taking underdogs. Haven't done any maths on whether more-mid works out better than a few top riders.
Eoin says this as the dude who will go top 10 while only using 9 riders in the previous system that benefited ~20 rider rosters. If anybody can make single digit rosters work it's you heheh
I do hope we end up just about somewhere in the middle. Although it will naturally change race to race, I feel like ~10 rider rosters is ideal (like for best possible team or whatever). Such that people can generally succeed with something between 5 or 15. Without outright making it like PB with a 'cap' of 6 or as wide as the old system with 20+ being used for best possible at times.
It is fun to see how one failed pick grenades your whole roster, such that it's not as beneficial to just pick the mathetmatically best riders and spread the risk so you barely feel any mechanicals or crashes on your score
PB fantasy will be brutal since it locked prior to quali. Luckily all mine there made it through, but I had Gwin on my team for a minute before I came to my senses.
Baumann may have saved my abysmal fantasy. Otherwise this may be my worst round, damn near picked every last place rider, including a DNF. I am a blight upon this field. A curse upon these lands.
I need to learn how to just pick the Valis and Alethas and just be done with it. The last thing these mid pack riders need is me cursing their finals.

Picking the podium contenders has worked well for me, until Jonty got a flat this weekend. I slept on Jordan (was considering him but really thought Jackson would be back in form this weekend). Angel didn't match his quali performance but he was so cheap that wasn't a huge loss.
Yep, I think most of us bit into the Angel onion... The money was just too good!
I also went with Tyler Waite over Jordan and that was a big muck up. Jus waitin for those numbers cuz this has gotta be my worst. Unless everybody else binned it just as hard as me but probably not because I reckon just picking Vali and Jordan/Asa/Jackson alone paid out huge. Let alone other more 'obvious' picks.
I gotta learn to pick those 5-6 rider rosters and not do ~10 or more

Got the team dialed and LOCKED IN! Good luck everyone!
I'm locked in as well. (Removes the blindfold I was using while throwing darts at my computer screen.)
Naturally, apologies to all riders I just cursed...

Hello, I'd like to count my eggs before they hatch...
Are there any prizes for the overall fantasy league, or is it just on a round by round basis?
