Hi all, I've got a specialized stumpjumper with a 34 Rythm fork. Anyone tried upgrading the damper to a Grip or Grip X2? There's a grip x2 going damper going for a real nice price near me which would make a great upgrade for me if it works. Apparently Fox says Grip dampers dont fit in Rythm forks but I've heard of plenty of people using them in 36 Rythm forks but not 34s. Anyone got any intel?

My understanding is that the Rhythm forks are made with a cheaper aluminum alloy in the stanchions, which requires the walls of the stanchions to be thicker. As a result, the Rhythm forks can't take the damper from the fancier fork because the fancier damp is physically too large in diameter to slide into the extra thick Rhythm stanchion.
Maybe someone else can chime in and confirm or deny this hearsay.
I played a lot with grip 1 dampers and the damper body and internal parts are the same diameter in all the cases. Top caps (threads) change, as the length do, to cover the diferences in travel.
It gets complicated quickly with fox rhythm forks. There are "regular" and "ebike by the stickers", wich are the same, and then there are the true "ebike specific" ones, where the stanchions are so thicc that they actually use some parts from thinner forks (ie. Blue tokens in a fox 34) it may be the case that even the threads for the top caps are different in this particular forks, im not sure.
I would say that, if there are green tokens inside this fork, you should be able to install a new , upgraded, 34 damper there. Bear in mind that for the newest 34 dampers it may be a difference in max allowable travel compared to previous chasis
