The below pissed me off so much i felt compelled to post this here:
So some german distributor bought some Stanton stock from Asia and is trying to register the brand name in europe ( ex-UK).
Original Stanton bikes from UK: https://www.stantonbikes.com
For those who know, they have been making hardtails for years.
Shameless Copycats: https://www.1bike4life.com/stanton
found this article on singletracks:
https://singletrackworld.com/2023/07/stanton-bicycles-facing-german-cop…
and on Enduro Magazine, they are reviewing the stanton bikes ( germany distributed) without any mention of the pending EU approval ( disputed by Stanton UK, obviously...) :
https://enduro-mtb.com/en/steel-vs-titanium/
totally misleading, as yes Stanton went into administration, but they have re-emerged as a brand, selling the same bikes etc. as the singletracks article aludes, Stanton UK sold bikes around the world for years before running into some troubles.
Looks to me like 1bikeforlife is trying to capitalize on the original Stanton brand trouble, to pull a shameful fast one. It will need to be litigated, and the deepest pockets might win.
FYI, i will be posting this on the other site, to raise awareness. I am pissed off.
So they had no IP or Patents etc etc... Asian brand sells the bikes they make for a now failed brand...
I see nothing wrong here except a Poorly done business failed and someone else now sells those same bikes.
happens all the time with products.
that's the thing: the brand has not failed, there was a restructuring between private owners and creditors. so not sure how a new company can sell the same product as the old company for very long. can they sell older stocks, possibly, but i doubt they ll be able to establish themselves as Stanton, with the same logo, branding etc. the prejudice will be material to the original stanton bike company, which still operates post its restructuring. as stated in the singletrack article, the original stanton company can show international sales for many years etc.
happens often, move on, dont be angry about lol.
