I will be moving to the greater DC area in a few months... Does anyone know of good trail riding or DH in the area? I've ridden Snowshoe and know its close-ish, but am really looking for any recommendations within a few hour drive.

Thx in advance!

Welcome! I live outside Baltimore. You're moving to an area that has a TON of good riding. Trail riding is abundant. There are 2 main types of trail systems in the DMV area.

Short/sharp/undulating river valley, XC style trail systems (most well known in the area is Patapsco Valley State Park) and much steeper, incredibly rocky DH/enduro winch & plummet systems (Frederick Watershed is an incredible one close to DC).

In addition, you have the entire Virginia Western Slope mountain system, (which includes lots of epic, super long backcountry riding), 2 bike parks (Bryce + Massanutten) and plenty of enduro around.

Facebook groups are plentiful and correspond to the trail systems names on Trailforks and the best way to get beta outside of Trailforks itself.

+1 for Frederick Watershed. Pennsylvania Blue Mountain bike park, might be closer than Snowshoe and there's Skyline in Reading. Mountain Creek in New Jersey is a 4 hour haul but you not in Colorado anymore! You're going to have to drive for some elevation.
