So explain this. I damaged the freehub body on my SLX FH-M7110 hub. The freehub part number for replacement is Y3G198050.
Full hub price: $135CDN
Freehub body price: $204CDN
I checked prices in various other countries as well. It stands that the freehub body is typically significantly more expensive than the entire hub.
HOW... Is this a thing?
Government hub shell subsidies?
Add in that they're charging for what they say is a free hub body... Unjustifiable.
For real though, it's insane the price of a hub part.
That's taking the old joke about "holding customers hostage for spares" a bit far. So just buy the whole hub, use the freehub and keep the rest as spares. You'll use at least the bearings eventually.
