hey tyler,

that looks like a fun bike to help get you into mountain biking and exploring your local trails. it should be able to handle most downhills that come with a normal ride out on the trails and even some small jumps that don't have really harsh landings or pumptrack sessions. many years ago, i started on a similar bike and because of the adventures i had on it, i fell in love with mountain biking. it didn't take long for me to out-grow my first bike's capabilities though, so if you start getting really aggressive, you'll want to think about upgrading to something more durable.

have fun out there!

i would just ride it and see what wears out, replacing the parts as necessary. i personally wouldn't sink a lot of money into upgrading it though. i'd rather save up for a nicer trail bike (used or new).

i can't tell if this fork has a 15mm axle or not, but if it doesn't and you upgrade the fork to one with a 15mm axle, you'll need a front wheel too, so things can get expensive fast.

have fun on it and worry about the upgrades later.
