Looking to upgrade

Hi all, moto guy here looking for some mtn bike help.
Right now I ride a 2004 Marin Mount Vision. I love the bike but Id like something better suspended and lighter would be awesome. It has 100mm travel, and the action isn't that great using fox rlc float forks and fox rl float shock. Shock is worse as it bottoms way too easily.

Btw, why do so many people not include the bikes year? Do they really not know or is it an attempt at being deceitful?

Anything you get is going to be a massive upgrade I'd guess. You need to determine how much you want to spend, that would help on determining what you should go for. The bikes you brought up are 400-$1100 range, a massive difference, and the yeti is back from 2010, the BMC, no idea the year. The Stance is the most new, and the best bike of the 3 you provided (and most expensive).

In a perfect world I'd stay away from 26" wheels, try and get a dropper post, and stick to something made in the last 3-4 years. But really knowing what you'd prefer to spend would go a really long way.

I'd like to spend as little as possible, but I'll go up to 1,000.
The BMC is a 2006 I believe. Not much different or better than my current bike however I could get it for 300~350. I don't see my bike selling for any less than 300 so it could be a free upgrade. I'm just not sure it is an upgrade. More travel in the suspension, but it might be worse travel. And I have no idea how well that frame works.

I like the yeti, cause I've never seen or rode a bad one lol but I noticed it's the same forks just additional travel. With a better shock though, maybe I'd like them.

I'd prefer 26" wheels. I know 29 rolls over obstacles easier, but if I wanted the additional rolling mass I'd ride my dirt bike. The mtn bike is fun because it's twitchy and easy to toss around.
If you're into motocross, I ride a big bore 125 for the same reason.

I am saying to stay away from 26" wheels because most manufacturers do not make 26" anymore. Basically its dead and has switched to 27.5. Sounds like that is a better option for you.

The stance seems like a better option. Its almost 7 years newer, uses 27.5 wheels. As for suspension, if you are dealing with a bike that is 7-9 years old, chances are the suspension is going to be pretty poor, especially if it has not been maintained.

Now I personally don't know much about the $1000 bike market, so don't take my word for anything. But older bikes are going to typically have a lot more issues.

Is 26 really going dead though? Just hard to imagine being as 26 has been the standard for so long.

I don't mind repairs, so I'm not concerned about fixing an older bike. Mostly I'm just looking for the most fun for my dollar.

I think Im gonna make an offer on the giant though.

Finally got something, a 2014 Giant Trance X0. Spent a little more than I'd like, and it is a 29er. But it was a great deal and I can't find 1 bad review on this bike. So any suggestions on things to change on the new girl?
