Now that the 2010 Pro Gravity Tour is officially over, I wanted to thank everyone for their support this first year. It was rough for us for sure, but i think it turned out well considering our late start, no budget & basically "re-inventing" what the National Series was from the ground up.
I've got a lot of ideas that i want to inplement in 2010, but wanted to get your thoughts.
The Pro GRT will still remain a "pro only" tour... but we realize that the amateurs are the bread & butter of the sport. There won't be any overall point system for the amateurs, other than the regional races that it's already a part of. Still, we want to make the overall experience great for everyone.
So send me your thoughts, ideas, comments. What you liked, what you didn't like. This is our chance to make the series the way we want it to be. So i need your help!
Cheers,
Dylan

I feel like it was a good place for U.S. racing to get back on it's feet.
As far as next year goes I think it would be cool to copy a little bit of what the xc series did this year, splitting up east and west and meeting up in Bootleg during interbike for the finals where east meets west in a shootout for the overall series champs.
If you took the gravity east shortened it and took the msc and fluid ride cups, took the best events from those two series and used that as the west series it would be rad. There are so many rippers on both coasts that never get to race eachother. This would also curt down travel across the country as far as east to west goes.
although i like & understand for the East/West series & shootout, there's A LOT of logistical issues at hand that can't make this happen in this current state of racing here in the states. In order to "blow up" events to be a true "national" caliber style, there needs to be a lot of financial support. The events did one hell of a job this year, but i'm looking for 100x bigger & better for future events. We're only looking to have 5-7 events in 2010 & splitting what money i'm able to obtain with sponsorship is going to be hard enough.
also consider the pro teams/sponsors/ etc that have to be at all the events. We don't want to dilute the series, but make a strong selection of events. in order to have a national series.. you need to race across the nation. Right now it's a "pro only tour" - showcasing the best riders in the country. once racing here get stronger, i think then we can look into that.. otherwise it's still just a regional race.
thanks again for the insite guys.
cheers,
dylan
When you have over 80 Pro racers that travel from all over the states for the races only 25% of them get points to be in the standings, while 75% leave with no points. It become discouraging to alot of riders about 75%.
Maybe you could have a qualifier for the finals and the racer who qualify for the final will be on a points table like the world cup system. The racers who don't qualify should get a base line of points (like 5 points) just for being able to make it to the race, and try there luck against the best in the USA.
That way as well our top racer will be used to a world cup points system that will get them ready for dealing with UCI points if that time comes for those racers.
Also last thing lets keep the DHI points, and the 4X points separate for the overall standing.
Thanks
