Squidworx Modular Flat Pedal

Best flats on the market. The grip is fantastic (we chose DH pin length) and they grip amazingly with a variety of shoe soles. The bearings stay smooth over time and nothing feels loose. I haven't needed to replace a pin yet but the process of removing and installing pins was relatively easy when I swapped out 2 cages for another colour I picked up while at Sun Peaks. 

Before my wife purchased her set of these pedals (direct from Squidworx), I read some reviews and saw mention of 2 concerns: price and platform size).  

The price (currently $159 CAN) was considered by some to be high for pedals that weren't all metal.  In my opinion, this nylon composite material seems similar in durability to aluminum.  This is the part of the pedals that would take the majority of the abuse in crashes and rock hits.  The difference here is that these cages can be replaced for $5 each.  That's $20 to make your pedals look new again! Incredible!  Meanwhile my old all-aluminum anodized pedals look beat up and my only option was to buy another complete set.  Squidworx even includes a spare cage and extra pins in the box to get you riding again if you find a way to break one.

Regarding the platform size: those with wider feet may want to look at Squidworx's large-sized platform as the medium may not fit without rubbing against the cranks.  For reference, I wear standard width US 9.5 shoes and the medium platforms are perfect.  

Overall, I felt that these pedals were definitely worth the initial cost.  Knowing that if we need to replace parts in the future or want to change the look, it is all available for a good price with lots of different options to choose from makes these pedals an excellent choice.  Once I saw these in person and tried them out on my wife's bike, I got a set for my bike!  I plan to replace the pedals on my other bike with a set of Squidworx pedals when the time comes.
