Third Annual Ride MTB Day Recap - Continued Growth and More Bikes!

The third annual “International Ride Mountain Bike Day”, saw continued growth and recognition as the “Official Holiday of Mountain Biking”. Thousands of riders around the globe participated by riding solo or with their friends while posting videos, images and stories on social media. #RIDEMTBDAY started in 2018 as a way to bring more people to the sport and support Independent Bike Dealers at the same time.

The 2020 edition saw more activation than ever from bike shops around the world who have been challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic:

“I had a hard time wrapping my brain around how Ride MTB Day was going to even happen this year with all of the COVID-19 guidelines.   Lo and behold, it’s not always about riding and hanging with a large crowd of mountain bikers.  Mountain Biking is so much more than that, as Ride MTB Day proved this year… We can’t wait for what Ride MTB Day brings us next year!  Until then- we will go out and ride and enjoy the sport we all love." - Jeff Renteria - Rock N Road Cyclery

“Ride MTB Day is an amazing way for us to connect with our customers and riders on an intrinsic level…This pandemic has put the kibosh on a lot of group activities but being able to use the tag #ridemtbday let us connect virtually with our customers and allowed us to share their experiences on the trail.” - David Meredith - Experiential // Digital Marketing Manager - InCycle Bicycles

Additionally, more MTB brands participated in 2020 than ever before. Some simply promoted the movement on social media, while others got more involved with discounts, sales and contests:

“Dynaplug was stoked to get involved and donate prizes for International Ride MTB Day!  The enthusiasm shared on Instagram showed the broad support for riding and reminded us that riding is a healthy activity we can all do locally… Looking forward to IRMTB Day 2021 and thanks to everyone for posting all your riding find's to motivate us to get out and ride throughout the year.” - Sheryl Kerner - Dynaplug

Moving forward, the Ride MTB Day team will focus on increasing MTB awareness on a year round basis, bringing more participants to the sport of Mountain Biking and increasing business opportunities for brands and dealers around the world.
