The Norco Factory Team has added talent and energy to both its 2020 DH and XC teams to build on the successes of 2019 while helping assure the future of Canadian success on the World’s stage.
Factory DH
Since its humble beginnings in 1964, Norco Bicycles has been passionately involved in racing – from multiple BMX titles in the early 80's, road racing glory in the mid-2000’s and World-Cup level mountain bike racing today. Five years ago, the original Aurum sparked the development of our World Cup downhill team. That team now inspires the race-winning technology in the Aurum HSP and continues to invest in the future of DH success around the world.
For 2020, the DH team welcomes back Sam Blenkinsop, Henry Fitzgerald and Elliot Jamieson, along with the addition of Pemberton, BC junior phenom Lucas Cruz, heading into in his first year of Elite. Cruz finished his Junior career with seven top-5 finishes including a 2nd place finish at Vallnord and 3rd at Showshoe in 2019.
With continued support from our partners at SRAM/RockShox, and Deity components, the DH team will race aboard the Aurum HSP decked out with DT Swiss wheels and Maxxis rubber. We are also excited to have team sponsors NF Apparel, FiveTen, HT Pedals, Bluegrass, Cushcore, e*thirteen, Ride 100%, Blueprint, Wahoo, Feedback Sports and HANDUP Gloves.
Factory XC
On the heels of the most successful year on the World Cup circuit, the Norco Factory XC Team will continue their winning ways aboard their Revolver FS and HT’s. With career best performances in both Men’s and Women’s World Cup categories, we had a lot to be excited about last year – but 2020 is a whole new ballgame.
With dreams of bringing home the Olympic Gold from Tokyo, the team is focused on building on last year’s breakthrough World Cup success on the World Cup circuit and key events on the North American calendar.
Haley Smith hopes to build on last year’s success and looks to be one of Canada’s best hopes for Olympic glory in the women’s race, while Peter Disera leads brother Quentin Disera (U23), Andrew L’Esperance and Sean Fincham (U23) in the race for the one Olympic spot to be granted to Canada’s top Elite male rider.
The U23 men will be well-represented with the addition of Canadian Junior Men’s Champion Carter Woods following a huge year that included not just a National title, but a 2nd place at the Albstadt World Cup and a 4th at the World Championships on Mont Ste. Anne.
With continued support from our partners at SRAM and RockShox, the XC team will take the Norco Revolver to new heights. We are excited to have team sponsors DT Swiss, Kenda, Axiom, WTB, HT Pedals, Feedback Sports, CRCS-DKI, Wahoo, Beast Components, HANDUP Gloves and Jakroo on board.
