Press Release

NW Cup and Spring Training Weekend

#USDH racing and training in the PNW is here!

Spring is in the air and that can only mean one thing, it's race season in the PNW.  Racing kicks off with Hubapalooza in Spokane on April 16-18, followed soon after by a DH practice opportunity, and then the opening round of the 2021 NW Cup.  The season is already augmenting a bit to fit the "Global Climate", but we are about to get rolling....safely.

First up, Dry Hill Sessions, May 1st & 2nd

Here's the first opportunity since last February to flow down the trails at Dry Hill.  With no racing last year, the Feb shuttle day was it.  Don't fret, the trails are still there and in great shape.  Dust off your sled and come out to join us for a laid back shuttle session.  We're spreading it over two days, and capping entry each day to keep the crowds down so it should be no problem to get a grip of runs in.  YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT AS WE WILL HAVE NO ONSITE REISTRATION!!!!  We have a handful of small changes to adapt to the Covid World, the main one being the shuttle trucks.  We will be enforcing a "helmet off, mask on" rule very strictly.  Please, regardless of your vax status, beliefs, natural superhuman immunity that most downhillers share, ...mask up so we can stay safe and keep riding/racing.  If for some reason you cannot bring yourself to cover your nose and mouth, we built a climbing trail just for you!  Also, it should be obvious, but we are going to say it.  If you have any cold symptoms or have come into contact with anyone who has, please do the right thing and stay home to watch Supercross.

Day 2 Registration

NW Cup Opening Round, May 14-16

The 2021 NW Cup kicks off on home turf at Dry Hill, and will now being returning on June 4-6 for Round 2 as Skibowl is opting out of hosting the race, not for the reason you might suspect. It's mainly because they just have too much snow, like 12 feet at the summit, 6 at the base.  With races in mid-May and early June, you might actually get to leave your fender at home for once, and not have to pay a cleaning fee at your hotel for your filthy bike.

As with the shuttle day, this event will have some things that will be new to you if you've come to a Dry Hill race in the past.  This event will be capped to keep it manageable, no on-site registration, hand sanitizer all over the place, a hand wash station at the porta-potties, and the same "helmet off, mask on" mandate as the shuttle days.  The current plan is to open registration on May 1st until we reach the cap (and I'm sure we will), and you will just need to check-in at the Happy Fun Bus to pick up your season plate, wristband, and a sweet Specialized mask.  Other than all that, it will be exactly the same thing you've come to expect at the racer favorite, Dry Hill.

Registration will be available at THIS LINK, likely on May 1st, and it will go fast.  We know that some of you won't get in but there will be more racing at Dry Hill this year so don't fret too hard.

Well that's about it.  We can't wait to see everyone in a couple a weeks, and then a couple weeks after that.
