BetterRide, the most experienced Mountain Bike Skills coaching organization in the U.S. is announcing their all new XC Race camp - a two day course designed specifically to help XC racers prepare, practice and race their best. This camp will happen in Tucson, AZ January 11 and 12 and is perfect for racers competing in the 24 Hours of the Old Pueblo, and all other XC Races as well.
The Difference Between Riding and Racing (and really Racing)
XC (Cross Country) Mountain Bike races like Epic Ride's series (24 Hours in the Old Pueblo, Tour of the White Mountains, Whiskey Off Road, and Grand Junction Off Road) are attracting a wider range of "Racers" to start lines across the country. As these non-USA Cycling events continue to grow in number and size, the trend will continue. The new racers showing up every year come with varied levels of competitive spirit. There is a big difference between those "just" there for fun, and those who seek to have fun while actually trying their best to achieve the best result they can. Racers who are determined to do their best range from the newbie to the experienced, but many of them prepare the same way: They get the nicest bike and gear they can afford. They ride a lot to get faster. They try to eat right and maybe show up early to pre-ride the course.
BetterRide is determined to help racers fill in the many gaps in that approach. The XC Race Camp starts with a manual outlining strategies and tactics for Mental, Physical, and Emotional (very important) preparation that begins weeks before race day. Each day of the 2 day Race Camp covers topics designed to prepare you to confidently race your best on race day including: how to properly warm up, bike set up specific to race day conditions, course inspection, course practice. These skills will teach racers to instantly shave minutes of their race times by working with the course and out-smarting the competition. Students won't just be "shown lines" but taught how to look at a trail to find the most effective lines to ride and pass on. The camp is guaranteed to shave minutes off Student's Race times.
