Allround Stoke on new Freeride Single Trail in Saalfelden Leogang

Yet another highlight in Austria’s bike eldorado Saalfelden Leogang causes excitement amongst ambitious freeriders: since the beginning of June, experienced riders can shred the Matzalm-Trail. This challenging single trail has demanding switchbacks, various sorts of terrain and the breathtaking panorama of Leogang’s Steinberge in store.

Leogang Matzalm Trail

Everybody who is looking for a unique bike experience should definitely check out the Matzalm-Trail tour! From the center of Leogang, the tour leads to the quiet Schwarzbachtal. Follow the forest road and the LE 07 | Asitz Hillclimb signs to the entrance of the Matzalm Trail, which is located on the right side of the forest road. The 1.5 kilometers / 0.9 miles long Matzalm-Trail starts at 1,410 m / 4,626 ft above sea level, from here, riders will get an amazing view over the stunning mountain ranges. The beautiful trail down to the Matzalm hut includes root sections, several, sometimes quite demanding narrow turns and a short, natural rock garden. After the wood section surrounding the Matzalm hut, the descent of the narrow trail begins: here, flow fans will get their money’s worth. The track leading downhill via the Embachalm hut and several stunning alpine meadows offers some flowy sections, which are sure to make your stomach tingle. The remoteness of the valley and the gorgeous panorama put the icing on the cake of the 12.8 km / 8 mi long MTB tour. Soon riders will reach the forest road, which leads back to the center of Leogang.

The Matzalm-Trail is perfect for experienced Enduro and freeriders as the wood sections with their numerous switchbacks require some skills. Also, the climb with an altitude difference of 624 m / 2,047 ft. is rather ambitious and will test the riders’ endurance.
