To all the people that consider making a living as a trail builder:
With all this hype on more trails EVERYWHERE, trail building is a unique and fulfilling career path that offers a variety of benefits beyond just working in the great outdoors. Trail builders are essential to the creation and maintenance of trails, which provide people with access to nature, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage outdoor activities.
As a trail builder, you have the opportunity to work on a range of tasks, from dirt work and retaining walls to woodwork, rock work, landscaping, and water mitigation. There is so much that goes into building a proper trail... it's not just scratching lines in the woods... You have the chance to ride on developed trails to analyze their functionality and ensure they're safe and enjoyable for everyone who uses them. And then, at the end of the day, you turn around and say "daaaaang... I built it!"
But trail building isn't just about the physical work. It's also about being part of a team that's dedicated to making a positive impact on the community. Trail builders work collaboratively to create and maintain trails that bring people closer to nature and promote outdoor activities.
We'd love to hear your thoughts on trail building as a career path. Have you considered becoming a trail builder? What draws you to this line of work? What benefits do you see in working outdoors and making a positive impact on the community?
