Hope you'll take the time to give this some good thought.
In a time when we're given only a couple of choices because someone else has decided for us what we should be riding(UCI or a Major Manufacture)some of those choices were made by road bikers from antiquated ideas of bike fit.
Thank god for the boutique bike designers who think outside the box.
This rant of mine is really about crank arm length and the lack of choices we have, So in the past it was decided that if your tall you should use longer crank arms, or short use shorter arms, when in reality and human mechanics this is backwards, so a shorter person actually has a better build to be able to maintain a higher pedal speed but lacks the power to really churn out the higher gears, and taller people like myself(6'4" 200lbs.)can smash out the higher gears but lack the ability to to maintain the higher pedal speeds.
Thanks to those who are pushing the boundaries of bike design and geometry we are seeing the best our sport has ever seen but we need the component manufactures to look outside the box too, build us crank sets with shorter arm lengths maybe as short as 150mm this will in turn give bike designers the room to drop bottom bracket height further lowering cg furthering our pursuit of speed.
There's many articles out there about the benefits of pedaling with shorter crank arms just not many options for hi quality crank sets with shorter lengths pretty much the shortest you'll find will be DH set of 165's give me set of 155mm length Next SL's please.
Please give up on the word standards and keep pushing forward on design!
