Christian Wright crashed at the world cup in Swizterland this week during practice. He was life flighted from the course and is now at a second hospital where docotors have been attempting to stop the internal bleeding.
many of you know how crazy the Champery WC track is this year. we all can imagine how hard the riders go down. Reportedly, Christian was having a great practice run, when his back brake froze up on the last jump at Champery WC. Fortunately a rider on the lift saw it happen and called for help. Christian was life-flighted off the mountain to a local hospital where doctors diagnosed his internal bleeding, but did not have the medical facilities to help him. Then, he was life-flighted a second time to the CHUV hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland. As of a 2:00 am Pacific time, Christian's dad had arrived at the hospital and reported that Christian seems to be doing better, though he is still in critical care/ ICU due to internal bleeding mostly in his spleen and kidney.
For those who may not know the Wright family, they are one of the most loving, compassionate families and would do anything to help anyone. From opening up their home to national riders to cheering on competitors at many US national events, Christian and his family are champions when it comes to sportsmanship and support. Their love for the sport is evident and their compassion for other cyclists is like none other. Through all of her anxiety over Christian, Mom, Karen, was still telling everyone to remember Pro DH racer, Sean "Griz" McClendon in their thoughts and prayers.
As a gesture of love and support for this wonderful family, a couple of Christian's friends set up a link where you can get updates on Christian and make donations to "Care for Christian"(on Facebook) if you feel led to help. The donations can be made through Paypal (norcalhub@yahoo.com) or if your local to Northern California you can donate to The Hub(in roseville) or The Hub Express (in Granite Bay)
