I only have a really nice bike because I work at a shop and get a discount, otherwise, it would be really hard for me to spend the kind of money most bikes and components cost. My biggest complaint is that all manufacturers only offer better builds with Carbon frames. If...more

Good point Nismo. And hopefully we get more d2c brands. The numbers that I’ve seen are 40% markup for some big brands and as low as 25% for some of the ‘gucci’ brands. D2C could go cheaper especially with their higher margins. They’re making more per bike selling direct than to shops. Anyway prices are high it’s just a matter of us voting with our wallets. My new Ripmo AF is on the way. Affordable? Who knows. First mtb was $500 in the mid 90s and I saved up for it and it served me well.

Of course how often do we need a new bike anyway. That’s a whole other conversation and this industry is fed by consumerism like most.

I think there is a big difference between a classic 120F-120R Trailbike and a modern one with 140F-120R. It's not just the fork, when you have All-Mountain geometry, All-mountain tires, and All-Mountain weight you have an All-Mountain Bike with a bit less travel...more

My advice to people: do not weigh your bikes - unless you're trying to build up a hill-climb specific bike. There have been a lot of tests and studies about bike weight, and the consensus is, it doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does. For some...more

I have this conversation with a lot of customers. In the PNW, these are 2nd/3rd/etc bikes. If you want one rig for everything, most of these brands offer a 140mm 29er, which seems to be the sweet spot. Unfortunately, the 140mm completes typically come with a spec...more

amazing work everyone! keep it up! I liked how BT gave his 'add to quiver' bike and his 'one bike quiver' bike. and a massive shout out to Banshee for performing against the plastic, pretty, and pricey bikes.

awesome format and the geo nerdage is sweet too.

Been using this cassette with Shimano XT 12 speed shifter and derailleur and a KMC chain and it works great. My hub didn't have a Microspline freehub available, and I didn't want to buy a whole new rear wheel, so this solution was perfect. It's also a nice chunk lighter...more

I pedal backwards to take the miles off the odometer and keep my bike looking new.

11 spd with an 11-50 cassette... a freeride bike to hit jump lines not to climb lame xc hills. Get some legs guys! The entire bike was put together from pinkbike's buy/sell ads minus the wheelset & frame. Braaaap

That drivetrain was under $150... and the bike is 6 yrs old so why put expensive brand new parts on to send it... so cool story bro!

Wide variety of trails over the last couple months at this point and I haven't had any issues with coil. In the few times I have bottomed it out, it wasn't harsh at all.
