Mountain Bike Vermont ( has announced its third annual Green Mountain Showdown mountain bike media event will be held Saturday, November 9th, 2013, at the Opera House in Hyde Park, VT and will include the second annual Riders’s Choice Awards for all things mountain biking in the state. The showdown has become a fixture in Vermont's mountain bike scene as the premier mountain bike media event in the region.

The Rider's Choice Awards will be based on votes submitted by Vermont mountain bikers on and sites and will include such categories as “best bike mechanic,” “strongest new rider,” “best trail builder” and “best photographer.” Voting is open online until November 7th. According to event organizer Ryan Thibault, the RCA winners will “definitely be receiving the coolest looking trophies in the state.”

This year’s Green Mountain Showdown is sponsored by the Vermont Mountain Bike Association,, and The Moceanproject and, aside from the awards, the event will also include a multimedia expo dedicated to all facets of mountain biking, from singletrack to downhill to jumping. Presentations by Northeastern writers, photographers and videographers, such as Aaron Rohde, Ben Haulenbeek, Jake Goss, and Henry Miles to name a few, will showcase slideshows and videos about everything from the 2013 downhill race season to mini-documentaries featuring local pedaling celebs.

“Our goal is to elevate Vermont’s status as the heart of mountain biking in the Eastern United States,” says Thibault. “The Green Mountain Showdown is a chance to celebrate our State’s huge recreational drive and it gives our local talent the opportunity to showcase their skill. It’s going to make for a fantastic show!"

The evening gala will begin at 7:00pm at the Hyde Park Opera House and riders and enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to gather for an evening of great photos, videos, written pieces and Riders Choice Award presentations. Tickets are $15 and partial proceeds will go to the Vermont Mountain Bike Association. There are only 200 available seats in the Opera House so MTBVT encourages people to book early.
