2026 A1 Daze supercross group ride

Once again, Rock N Road Cyclery and Specialized team up (with many other sponsors) to put on the A1 Daze group ride the morning following Anaheim 1 supercross. Despite a slight mood dampening following the racing incident involving Justin Barcia and Malcolm Stewart, spirits were kept high and the community came together to celebrate 2 of the sports we love most. OCMTBA (Orange County Mountain Bike Association) also made a speech promoting the pump track being planned for Laguna Beach that is currently in legal limbo with city council. Hopefully continued community support pushes that through to capitalize on the momentum of the one they already built in San Clemente. (UPDATE: it made it through! will now begin first stages of planning)

As usual, multiple elite racers from the supercross field show up even after a long night of racing. Along with big name racers like Cooper Webb, Chase Sexton, Hunter Lawrence, and Dylan Ferrandis... Many legendary riders also attend like Jeff Ward, Axell Hodges, and Curtis Keene of Specialized. Even Steve Caballero (avid dirt biker and MTBer along with his skate career) rolled through to take part. It's honestly hard to keep track of how many big names attend this event. (Unsurprisingly I'm probably missing a dozen more.)

And after that grueling push from the store all the way up past Cook's Corner and to the top of the Luge by the flag, everyone took a moment to collect themselves before the down. There was a touch of hero dirt in the shady spots from the recent rains, but otherwise the Luge was as it always is. Hard pack, loose, and a nearly straight shot down the hill.

And truly there is nothing better after a decent ride, nearly 15 miles and 2000 feet, than getting back to the parking lot to the smell of not just cheeseburgers but FREE cheeseburgers. Makes 'em taste extra good. A quick chat with friends, a burger, a soda, and then right back into SoCal traffic. Some things never change...

Obviously I want to send best wishes to Barcia and Stewart. That was a big, big hit. Barcia was looking great on that Ducati and Malcolm showed so much improvement it's yet again another blow to long time Mookie fans to see him out again. Always hoping for the rest of the field to stay healthy and to enjoy plenty more great battles with so many guys doing well on their new bikes.
