The best word I can use to describe this bike is "nimble". The Whole Enchilada trail is a true test of any bike. The shuttle drops you off at 11,000 ft in the pine trees. You wind your way down the mountain, through the aspens, through the sage brush and the last 1/2 of the trail is on slick rock and sand in the 100 degree desert. It is a long, grueling day for the rider but it is really grueling for the bike I imagine. I was really impressed with the Rock Shox Lyrix fork and the Maxxis Aggressor and Minion tire combination provided excellent traction. I did not have any problems with the GX Eagle drivetrain and the Fox Transfer Performance dropper post was crisp and consistent doing it's job on the trail.
The bike I normally ride is a Specialized Enduro. The Enduro has longer travel in the suspension and the Enduro feels longer and lower to the trail. However, the 150 mm of travel on the Fezzari did not feel inadequate all day. If I could convince my wife that I need another bike I would add this bike to my garage tomorrow. You can actually get a carbon Fezzari La Sal for under $3,600.
If you haven't had the opportunity to demo a La Sal, or if you haven't even heard of the Fezzari brand for that matter I would encourage you to check it out. Go to their website and see if you can schedule a demo. You won't regret it. See more at https://www.zionbikes.store/bikes
