With the introduction of the D3 helmet, the D2 has kind of gone into the shadows and it’s easy to forget that for a long time this was THE helmet to beat. The nice thing about the D2 is that is still comes with the TLD quality and styling but a lot cheap than the newer D3.

I purchased the carbon D2 right before the D3 was released and for the past couple of years the helmet has treated me well. The first thing I noticed about the carbon D2 was how light it is and the stylish graphics on the lid. I like the addition of the helmet bag that comes with the lid, if you’re spending this much money on the fullface helmet it’s nice to have a helmet bag to carry it in. You can really see the quality in the TLD lids as they just look and feel more expensive than some of the other brands, what I mean by that it all the small attention to details like the addition of titanium visor bolts, the mud guard at the bottom of the help and simply how well it is all put together.

As with most helmets the inside pads are removable and washable, the inside pads are made of a soft material and are comfortable through a full day of riding. The helmet strap consists of a D-Ring system and is easy to use even with gloves on.

In terms of venting I think the helmet does a great job, I’ve had no issues when riding in lift operated bike parks. If you have to do a lot of pedalling the lid can get a bit toasty, I do wish it had a bit more vents but it’s a small price to pay for such a quality/stylish lid. Overall I would strongly recommend this lid.
