Mtbs are overpriced!?

I would think dirtbikes are more expensive. A lot of work goes into building a dirtbike, more than mtbs. You can get a 2012 dirtbike that's well maintained for about 3k. A "good" AM bike is in the 3-5k range by most mtbers standards. Below that range, most bikes aren't so great! Do you really think that they are worth so much money? Or is everything in the world overpriced!?

They say it's all in the production numbers. The more you sell the cheaper they can be. But what really are the sales numbers on MX bikes?

Your not making a good comparison with an S works and a brand new kawi. A better comparison would be between an Enduro Comp and Kawi. Because both are basic level and have plenty of room to upgrade. For a motorcycle you can upgrade the clutch, engine , and suspension. Just like the Enduro you can upgrade the drivetrain, wheels, and suspension. Just look at Curtis Keenes S works, outside of a couple personal modification you can buy the same bike he is riding for 9.3K. However if you look to buy James Stewart or Ryan Dungey's motorcycle or better yet replicate the bike in part because you can't buy some of the parts they have, you are looking more in the 20k+ range.

Dungeys bike is worth well over 50k, not 20. These days 20k is only enough for a kit and some engine upgrades, nothing else like the pros have

It could cost $3,000 to repair an engine on a KX450. Tires are $100 each and can wear out after 3-4 rides. Suspension is $1000 to service and modify. An exhaust is $1000. Entry at a motocross race is $100 to ride all of 20-30 minutes. Riding MTB instead of motocross will save tens of thousands in the long run. And one does not need a 9K bike to compete and do well. Kona makes some great bikes that are very reasonable.
