Tires for sandy DS course

Regarding the Sea Otter slalom course-- Do you guys think it would be beneficial to run wider, but inevitably, heavier tires than my current setup (Kenda Excavator 2.1 front, Small Block8 2.1 rear)? I'm thinking it will float over the sand, but if the deep sand is just in the berms, I'm not sure how much floating I want to be doing. Some big, burly tires might save some time in the dust, but will they make up for lost time because of slower cranking. I have never been to Otter, so I would appreciate some insight on what other will be running.

Thanks,
Shawn

PS: Still need a ride

If I were you......

I would most definitely run a 2.35 single ply Minion DHF up front

When I was racing it was a 2.35 minion DHF and a 2.35 larson tt or cross max
