I just received a 2012 Epic Comp that I had to special order. A quick question: the gusset area of the top tube/seat tube juncture is not hollow as per all images used in Specialized advertising, but covered with gusset plates like the 2011. I'm wondering if I just paid $3K+ for a 2011 frame with 2012 components, with the more patient buyers getting an updated frame when 2011 frames are used up? Is this a practice of Specialized?Blink

Thanks for any input.

i think that the hollow area is for larges and extra larges only. It allows them to make the bike bigger.

THANKS, ebobc. I think you've called it exactly, based on what I've seen at another dealer today. I think I had an attack of paranoia, but am feeling better now.Blush
