Video: Hafjell World Cup Track Preview 18

The last round of the 2012 UCI DH Worldcup is just around the corner, and fittingly, for the grand finale, the track in Hafjell appears to offer a mix of all the previous tracks of the year. Bike park berms and tables, steep natural rocky bits, and even some freshly cut old-school hi-speed grass sections should make for exciting racing come September 14.

variety is king.

gravity racing should be a reflection of contemporary gravity riding and everything that's led up to it, not some archaic notion of one track type.

If that were the case we'd all still be riding the kamakaze dh track!

Not sure if that covered the whole track but based on whats in the video I'd have to agree this track is very "bike park". It looks like a blast to ride and would certainly pose its challenges to a weekend warrior type like myself but it just weak for a world cut course. Its just doesn't look on video like its would pose much of a test for world cup level riders.

Don't nock it until you've tried it. The film doesn't show how Steep, technical and fast the woods and rocky sections are. It is a challenge for every level of rider and if you want bike park, ride the other trails there like the roller coaster and you'll see what bike park is all about.

I'm sure there are a few techy sections but again we are talking world cup riders, the best in the world. I mean we won't really know until we see these guys ride it and get reports about the track. I'm hoping your right. I have no motivation to knock this track. Its just looked like a whole lot of easy riding on video. (in context of world cup level riders).

I've ridden I the track on a number of occasions and work closely with the Norwegian team and been to several of the wc rounds this year. It is a very well built track with one thing in mind, the wc. It is a mix of park, high speed and technicality that will challenge every level of rider. It wouldn't have been given the go ahead by the uci if it wasn't up to standard.

mmmmh...nothing more than a bike park track!! especially the first section is large and smooth like a highway!!

Yep.
The techy sections did look pretty nice though. The video made it all look so mis-jointed and the 2 riders made it look so slow (stop braking in the corners). I can see the world cup guys flat landing everything.
Can see it being a good race to watch though... especially at full pace.

The hafjell track is far from your ordinary bike park DH-track (crankworx?). The track has been raced on in the european champs + nordic champs before and is among riders concidered to be plain kick ass.
The rock gardens in the wood sections are difficult to film because of the lighting, so I guess that the film makers (cheers guys) made the desicion to film a lot of the high-speed berm sections (expressen + WC jumps et.c.) instead.

Super nice film. Awsome track, awsome bike park. Gets me STOKED (heard that word before, anyone?) every time I go there.

Ah Ok!! May be in this movie we can't understand the real difficulties of this track... I hope in a nice, spectacular and technical race...we'll see it soon!!

The film doesn't give a good perspective of how big the gaps are and how well they're made. The pros won't be flat landing, even at full pace...

Track looks sick! Proper mix of just about everything.

Props to the riders and film crew. Looks like it was a long day of shooting.
