Is It Revved? Guerrilla Gravity Smashing Frames 2

Back in January when Guerrilla Gravity announced Revved Carbon Technology, a new way to make carbon fiber mountain bikes, the mountain bike community almost broke the internet with enthusiasm surrounding what this meant for the future of mountain biking, local manufacturing, and the future of (affordable) carbon mountain bikes. But the enthusiasm surrounding Revved Technology has been matched with a hefty dose of skepticism-bordering-on-cynicism around our claim that Revved could be 300% more impact resistant than every other carbon fiber mountain bike out there. The new Revved Carbon frames are equivalently tough to our outgoing aluminum frames and just about the same price . . . and we didn’t even use the word gamechanger.

In episode 3 of, "Is It Revved?" we asked Dr. Destructo to set aside his chaotic inhibitions and sit down with Guerrilla Gravity’s Chief Engineer and co-founder, Matt Giaraffa to discuss the science behind Revved and the testing process that resulted in the Frame Breaker .3000. This testing apparatus uses the pointy end of a 12 lb sledgehammer head welded to a lever arm that allows our engineers to accurately measure the drop height to compare results between the last generation alloy GG, competitors’ carbon frames, and finally our own Revved Carbon frames. Spoiler alert, the Revved frames were the only carbon frames that survived beyond the initial impact.

Be sure to watch until the end when Matt takes his turn at playing, Is It Revved?
