Pro MTB racer, Isak Leivsson wanted a really specific downhill mountain bike, so he just made it himself. The steel, mixed-wheel beast has been ripping the #USDH races for over a year with tweaks and changes. In this Vital RAW, he pushes it through the paces at Windrock Bike Park.

Vital MTB / PB had a couple of stories / picture groups of 2 of his other frames. This one looks like it takes ideas from both of those (though, goodness knows what order these 3 bikes of his I've seen, were made / tested in) : one was a high pivot / idler wheel set up, but with a 'hanging arm' from the TT / near the seat post, with the shock mounted onto the TT, and a Horst link type (with Girder / Trellis type 'Seat Stays') drop out set up.
The other was a rocker on the SP, much like the frame in the video, with a vertical shock mounted from plates on / above the BB, but, with a 'conventional ' (well, not really, it looked to be around 60/70mm back from, and around 40/50mm above the BB center line) SA pivot, and a straight, single pivot swingarm much as the bike in the video has. All, with what appears to be long 'Chain Stay' lengths - one spec listed the CS's were 490mm long - something I really like on my personal frames, but so many seem scared of such a set up. And all, with quite steep SP angles - again, something I very much favour.
It's great to see young blokes making their own bikes, learning how to do things, and trying things out! 'Making', is what it's all about!
