I do have to give him props for another day that I rode with him at Sheep Hills and he wasn't a dick to me. He was there with Kurt Voreis filming for Revolution? or Evolution? The big lines there run North to South. He took off from the left or East most lip and landed on the right or West most landing of the Office set. It was a transfer of fifteen to twenty feet, maybe more, filmed with a fish eye lens that made it look like nothing in the finished video. He got robbed on that one. Had to mention it to balance out some of the disrespect.

Lopez=lopes? I don't think he's making it boring. He's bringing these guys to another fitness level they wouldn't achieve otherwise and making them faster and better riders. Jealous you can't ride like them, or just that you want lopes "giving it" to you as well, or maybe just a taint sniggle? See you on the track. Or are you not old enough to remember when lopes was a punk kid?

Oh I remember the punk kid. And the punk assed adult. He doesn't impress me. And as I've been told by a contemporary, can't remember who, he grew up Lopez, but that wasn't cool enough for a pro like him. Maybe I heard wrong.

I never understood why people thought he was an ass. I don't know the guy, but he comes across as a nice enough guy for the companies he represents. I know about the double parking ordeal in downieiville with his sprinter van, but it sounds like he was just saving a space for his shuttle driver. What is it about him that chides people? He's a competitor, with a competitive spirt (maybe slightly aggro? I don't know) but I think he's a legend. I've always been curious about the lopes hate. Maybe he is an ass and I just don't see it. But then again, I still like people like Palmer, and he was/is a serious ass clown. You look at some of the top guys like Gee/Dan Atherton, Fabien Barell, etc, and they all have their moments where it's "all about them". I just think they're competitive people. I don't take it to heart, and I think when someone like Lopes is helping these kids train to take it to another level, well it's a great thing. Everyone has an ego. Maybe I'm just a nice guy and I'll never be as good as them, so I don't let it bother me. Or maybe you know something I don't know. Either way, I hope he helps these kids rip harder than ever.

I guess maybe it all comes down to the day I spent digging at the Grove in Forest Hill on the Corkscrew trail and went over to watch a bit and say hi and he just gave me a grunt and the cold shoulder and rode away like I ruined his whole session. And he never picked up a shovel or watering can. I guess I'm just to good at holding a grudge.
