No worries. I'm backin' the kid too. Next time you see Carlos G. or talk to him, give him a big Cuban slap in the face for me! Tell him the White Devil sent ya!

    Hey Chris (Hansolo),

I am definitely not a Cam hater. I've spent time hanging out with the kid and I think he is a super cool guy, ridiculously talented and intelligent as well. He definitely must have done the best thing for himself jumping to Evil because Pablo is no joke when it comes to designing those Corsairs and there was the possibility Cam would help in new product development. On business terms, Cam has his reasons and that is all that matters here.

I think (the new) Evil was re-energized with some super smart people (who have moved to other companies since) but went through some growing pains. They had some frame issues which I assume were attributed to specific manufacturing issues (I merely saw it on the interwebs) and took a beating. That being said, I was only questioning the tactics Evil might have used to get Zink on board.

I believe Evil is making a great product. I've ridden one myself and loved every bit of the ride. My post just questioned the move. Was it a ploy to lowball current riders so they could get Cam and boost their visibility or did Thomas and Steve leave on genuine terms? That's all, just speckolatin'.

By the way, SDG makes the best saddles on the market. Bel Air railed tiger print FTW!

    Congratulations Zink!!
A badass rider with a badass brand! A great fit indeed. All the naysayers that thought Zink was on his way out thinks the same about Evil, but little do they know...
Look out for some sick things from both for 2011!! Yeeoww!

alloneword: i belive that your theory is correct, in what hobby or sport like this hasn't it been about the cash?

I'm just throwing this out there...don't hate me. I'm probably tempting the internet shark waters with this one!

So I guess the Zink thing begs the question, did Evil lowball their riders and secretly push them out so they could get Zink on board? Not slighting smashing Stevie or Vandersteez at all but Cam is the highest profile slopestyle rider or even MTB rider right now. His endless ESPN coverage for Rampage and his CW win have catapulted him to the stratosphere in terms of visibility. Evil had some money to spare that Flaherty over at Corsair might not have. It's all about money in the end and don't think that it isn't.

We didn't see a ton of coverage on Cam's Corsair sponsorship (maybe I missed it) but Evil is out to right some bad press about their bikes this year. Vanderham is the style master but mainly a legendary ambassador and Smith left for Devinci to try and put them on the World Cup map. Cam getting a Monster sponsorship (I know Smith is a Red Bull rider) and having a signature shoe on a well publicized new venture for Osiris might seem like Evil is aiming for a higher profile? Who knows. Smith and Vanderham are amazing riders but the changes raise some red flags in my eyes.

We all know that MTB is a big chess game with everyone trying to sell bikes in a shrinking economy and market. Could this have been Evil's big move?
