Burgtec Penthouse MK5 B-Rage Edition Flat Pedal
The Good
Qfactor means less hits/better cornering
Amazing grip. Clipped in feeling 100%
A bit heavy
Great machining
The Bad
Price
Overall Review
Replaced deity supervillains. Better in all aspects aside from weight. Fewer pedal strikes, appear more durable, WAY better grip. Wish there could be pedal pins that were black. Slightly heavier. Otherwise amazing

I f you’ve been around the sport for a while, you might remember the Gamut Podium flat pedal. If you’ve been around forever, you’ll also remember the Point One Podium which was the OG of this pedal shape way back when. Gamut acquired Point One in 2014, and released their version of the Podium pedal in 2016. It was extremely thin, with a shape that still worked well for generating grip, although the small-ish platform and the large inboard bearing bulge were not to everyone’s liking. Gamut

Specialized 2FO Roost Flat Syn Shoe
The Good
Hidden Lace Keeper. Much cheaper than FiveTen.
No holes in toe box keep water from ponding after creek crossings.
The Bad
Heel cup is somewhat odd. Long lugs & thick insole feel oddly "boot"-ish in height.
Forefoot of sole a hair too rigid.
Overall Review
A lover of the FiveTen Freerider Pro, other testers claims about the 2FO's great new grip got me curious. The Syn (synthetic toe box) is the 2nd revision of the updated 2FO. I was lucky enough to compare it to the velour looking original back to back, having purchased the originals for a screaming $50 in shop on the day my old shoes died. The Syn exists because the velvety toe box on the original 2FO's is truly horrible for damp climates and creek crossings. First ride, they got rained on &
2022 Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Elite Alloy Bike
The Good
*Great value (when buying at blowout pricing)
*Great handling geometry
*Adjustable geometry that actually does something
*Fun bike in a high number of environments
*Lots of aftermarket options (links, shocks, etc)
*Frame is durable
*SWAT box + water bottle multitool is a great touch
The Bad
*Suspension leaves most riders wanting more
*Component durability not great, but this is true across the bike industry
*35mm cockpit is not something most riders will appreciate (too stiff)
*No longer made in lieu of a more gentrified version of the bike
*Fox 36 continues to struggle with CSU issues.

FOX Transfer Neo Factory Seatpost
Overall Review
T he wireless dropper post market has been heating up lately, with several new entrants throwing their hats in the ring. Fox is the latest to join the party, and they’ve definitely come out swinging. By thinking outside the box, they’ve developed a dropper post that offers the fastest actuation in the industry at present, coupled with lower stack height thanks to the unusual placement of the wireless controller unit on the seat post. They’re also making the post in the three main diameters with

The Good
Great geometry! This bike has worked perfectly for me. The bike rips at the ski area bike parks. It has doubled my speed in relation to my friends I ride with. Totally satisfied!
The Bad
A bit heavy at 34 lbs, but my use is mostly lift assisted downhill. It does xc rather well but one just needs to be fit for uphill.
Overall Review
I have upgraded the seatpost lever, and gone up to Sram Eagle shifters and derailleur, and upgraded to Yari shock with new air spring and charger 2.1. The bike is bullet proof!!
Burgtec Penthouse MK5 Flat Pedal
Not enough grip
The Good
They look nice.
The Bad
Tried to replace worn out Horizon flats and unfortunately even 5-year old Horizons with bent and missing pins are much grippier. Those lack at last 1mm in pin height. On most trails they are ok though, just require a little more attention on very rough sections. Would be great if those had slightly larger distance from the crank.
Overall Review
They look nice and are thin but gripwise they could be a bit better. Would love Burgtec to provide longer aftermarket pins.

W hen I was looking for my next long-term test bike, I wanted something a bit different. I’ve always been a huge fan of steel frames, drawn in by the promise of a smooth ride and something a bit more exotic than your run-of-the-mill carbon frame from Asia – as awesome as those are today, they are for the most part not all that unique. I told the rad folks at Starling Cycles about my plans, and they kindly cooked up a Murmur frame for me to ride this year. I’ve been putting in the miles aboard

My Go to Bar
The Good
Been on these for multiple bikes over multiple years, really like the bend. Seems to be comfortable with enough give in material to not be harsh.
The Bad
Anodizing can be corroded after a few years of sweat.
Overall Review
Seems like a great bar especially for the price.

been riding them since '19, same pair (780mm 1" rise), without fuss & have just done their job well. Have multiple bikes and these are on my enduro (ridden everywhere) with no crazy better performance than compared to my other bars (santa cruz & deity carbon). I do think they are the most smooth riding bars but that can be fork setup too. You can't go wrong with these bars!
