Five or six years ago, I bought a used WTB Devo saddle to fit on an old commuter bike, thinking that it would do the job for that old bike. After a few commutes, it made its way on my main bike, and then I started looking online to see if I could find some more so I could have one on all of my bikes.
Seeing that it was discontinued, I have tried other alternatives (Selle Italia, oem generic saddles and other WTB saddles) but I couldn't find one that fit as well. Finding the right saddle can be fastidious sometimes, but you might be lucky like me and end up on the right one when you least expect it. When I saw that the Deva was pretty similar to the Devo, I didn't care if it was meant for men or women so I tried it.
The dimensions are very similar to my old Devo, and the padding is very comfortable, so it felt right from the very first ride. The oem saddle that came on my new bike was not super comfortable and switching to the WTB Deva eliminated this feeling right away. The rails are long enough to adjust the saddle to the exact position that you're looking for. I put mine as far towards the front as available to have a steeper seat tube angle feeling.
Visually, you couldn't tell that it's a women's saddle, and the angular graphic imprints fit well with modern bike and graphic designs. I also like the easily-cleaned synthetic cover after muddy rides and the fact that it's made without animal products would be a positive for vegans. The cover can be a little bit slipperier than the original leather version, but I don't really feel it on the trail.
Honestly, if it fits well I don't see much to be improved on this saddle. There are price, weight and padding options for everyone, and it visually blends well with all bikes.Maybe it would be cool to see one made with recycled and recyclable materials, but that's about it.
That's my new favorite saddle and I hope that it will stay in the lineup for a long time.
