Race Face Aeffect Saddle

The Good:

240 Grams, Ti Rails, Good Fit For My Butt, Available in Multiple Colors

The Bad:

none I can find

Overall Review:

Raceface is new to the market of having their own saddles and released two different versions last year (That I am aware of). I decided to give the Aeffect version a go partly due to its slighter cheaper price and some of its features/colors. They are offered in 3 different colorways: All black, black/blue, and black/red. All three look great, but I decided to go with the stealthier all black flavor. It comes in at a claimed weight of 240 grams (actual 231g) and uses Ti Alloy rails.

On The Trail:

Mounting up to the seat post rails is like any other traditional railed saddle, just put a little grease on the rails and you are good to go. Once I adjusted it to my preferred position I was ready to hit the trails. I have been riding this saddle for almost 12 months putting it through its paces on my trail bike that I put through much abuse. Each person is going to prefer their own saddle according to what feels comfortable to them individually. This one I feel like will be good for a wide variety of people especially those who run droppers/move around a lot on their saddle while riding. I say this because it has a decently padded surface, not too pointy of a nose, and the sides drop off a bit as to not bruise your inner thighs while moving around.

While pedaling I have found this saddle to be about as comfortable as any I have ridden without being bulky. The shinier parts act like grips to help keep your butt in place and when wet will actually squeak a little bit on occasion with my TLD Skyline shorts. The way Raceface has made the saddle, the shiny/grippy section does not wear away what so ever over time. The saddle has stood up to many wrecks and laydowns over this past year and there is hardly any way to tell it has been used. The top material is rip free and the rails have not been bent. I have even considered getting this saddle for my DH bike!

There are many people out there who love the brand Raceface, and I am one of them. I am however not a brand loyal type person and buy based off of what works well for my situation and has good reviews where available. This is a great product offering and adds to products that I use from Raceface and will buy again in the future. It is a very solid saddle that will take a beating and keep going. Very well made!
