Overall Review:

Initial Impressions

Spank is a company I had been aware of because of their pedals. When it came time to get a new wheelset, I started to consider the Oozy Trail 365. I had seen them on Jenson and some other sites, and a friend of mine had their dh oriented rims on his wheelset. The width, design, and relative light weight appealed to me. I had some questions about the finish durability in different colors so I contacted Oozy via their website. One of their team called me the next day and was very helpful. He also thanked me for considering their product and offered his assistance in the future if I ever needed it. I got to check them out in person as well before purchasing. They felt like good quality, especially for the price.

Installing tires on the Oozy rims is a cinch, especially compared to some other rims I have owned. Their Bead Bite rim edge has proven to be as good as they advertise. It is designed to lock into your bead to prevent burps. I have not had a burped tire since I got these rims. I put roughly 700 miles of riding on them this season I have been pleased with their performance.

Previously I had been riding with Raceface AR30 rims. I didn't have any problems with bending or buckling but they would get dented all over the place. These are not in perfect shape but their finish looks much better after one season than my AR30s did. They clean up well. The only spot that has given me trouble is the silver logo. I got some grease on the rear rim right on the Spank logo, and it has discolored slightly. If I had wiped it off sooner, it may not have stuck, but that is a small thing to complain about.

Bottom Line

If you are looking for a wide aluminum rim, this is a great contender. The Oozy's price coupled with durability and performance gets 4 stars from me.

When traction is king, go wide! SPANK Industries has been an innovator in wide rim design for over a decade, and the OOZY Trail 345 Rim is the culmination of these efforts. Boasting a 30mm inner width, the OOZY Trail 345’s design optimizes performance with the widest range of tire shapes and sizes on the market. This wider internal width improves tire spread, effectively increasing traction, without squaring tire profiles excessively, which can lead to reduced maneuverability and cornering traction. The OOZY Trail 345 Rim combines the strength of Dynamal alloy, the stiffness of Spank’s patented Oohbah reverse-well profile and the enhanced tubeless performance of Bead Bite anti-burp rims hooks into a lightweight, trail tuned package that's tough enough to handle All Mountain and Enduro applications.
