Absolute Stunner Of A Rim!

Rating: Featured Member Review
The Good:

Tough, durable, affordable, very respectable weight, holds tubeless like a champ thanks to the beadlock.

The Bad:

After four seasons I have nothing bad to say other than the bead bite makes getting tires seated flush on the bead a pain at times.

Overall Review:

I bought these rims and laced them to a set of DT Swiss 350 hubs using DT Revolution spokes when the rims first came out. I quickly found out that being 6ft 7in and 250-275lbs that DT Revolutions were a bit light for me. I replaced the rear wheel using DT Swiss Super Comp spokes and have been trouble free ever since. I have had zero issues with these rims since I bought them for my 2014 Giant Trance, they are now serving duty on my current 2016 Giant Reign Adv. The rims have held their true surprisingly well, and the odd broken spoke from a wayward stick has never left me having to walk out of the woods with a warped wheel. These rims definitely punch above their weight class. I was a little skeptical about how light they were for a rider of my size, but I have been thoroughly impressed

The bead bite ridges seem to help with tubeless, and I have only ever burped a tire when running ridiculously low air pressure. Tubeless setup with Schwalbe tires has always been a breeze and never required more than my Topeak Joe Blow mountain floor pump, no compressors or air canisters have been required; but I can't speak for mounting non-Schwalbe tires. The bead bite does make it a giant pain to get the whole bead sitting smooth and flush, but it's not a huge deal and just requires working the tire to get it seated so that the bead isn't tucked under in spots. I am a big fan of hand-built wheels, and these have surpassed my expectations time and time again from everyday trail rides to lift assisted shuttle runs and six hour events. I would definitely recommend these to a friend, or even to an enemy!
