bead bite seems to do its job, good width at 30.5mm, nice finish to them
The radial compliance makes them very shallow which like the stans makes them quite soft and prone to flat spots
Running 29inch none-vibrocore oozy 350 rim 32 hole, black rim with white decals. Laced using dt double butted spokes to I9 torch hubs. Firstly the rims look great with a nice matt finish and the white is an off white, almost matt silver in colour.
First time using spank rims and heard lots of great things about how bomb proof the older oozy models were, so gave the new 350 rims a try. In short I'm writing this review after destroying my rear rim on trails in Nelson, New Zealand where bikes and parts get punished. Similar to the stans flows, I found they're a bit too shallow and on the lighter end of alloy all mountain/enduro rims at 495g. This resulted in 2 quite significant flat spots quite early on that resulted in lots of time in the truing stand re tightening spokes as they could no longer hold tension. Few weeks of riding later and its now come to the point where the spoke tension is so uneven with plenty of wobble in the wheel still that I'm having to replace it.
The front wheel however is holding up great and the rim width gives tyres a really nice profile with all the grip! I will also mention I managed to fit a cushcore no dramas, even with the wavy internal section of rim (oohbah).
This time I've ordered the oozy trail 345 rim, which is a little heavier, slightly narrower but also a deeper rim so should be better suited for the rear.
Yoann Barelli from what I've seen runs these rims so maybe its just my riding and pretty average wheel building skills aha
***also found that spanks website has updated where the 2019 spank 350 rims seem to have changed slightly, seemed to have dropped the oozy from the name with a slightly different rim decal, they also seemed to have upped the weight to 535g which may make them more robust
