Life Saver

Rating: Featured Member Review
The Good:

- Saved my life(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- Comfortable
- Much lighter than it looks
- Stylish -
-Confidence Inspiring w/ more all around protection

The Bad:

- A bit warm on super hot days or very long climbs
- Visor warped a bit after being in the sun on a black table in 80 degree heat for 8 hours at our expo booth (plus side is that if the visor is removed it can be set back to flat pretty easily with a heat gun and something big heavy and flat)

Overall Review:

This thing saved my life. Not in a figurative "I got a small branch to the head, OMG" way, in a completely literal life-saving way. Read on for a few more details. I took a very serious crash in Peru in the fall (see March 2012 Decline for more deets on the trip and crash). Absolutely every doctor I've seen said had I not been wearing a helmet I surely would have died (some even laughed at the question). Also every one of them said had I been wearing a less protective helmet I would have most likely come out out of the wreck with serious permanent brain damage. I'm off the bike for a few more months, but my recovery is going amazingly well (most people would still be in bed now, not out building trails and riding their trainer 5 days a week). I owe a massive portion of that to Urge, their awesome US distributor, and my Endur-O-Matic. Although pretty clearly unusable now the lid keeps a prominent spot on my gear shelf. All things considered that benefit probably outweighs any cons, eh?

The Good:

Where do I start. Light, comfortable, cool, the vents look funky and actually work better then other similar priced lids. The colours are groovy, comes with two sets of pads, parts like new visors (see below) are easy to come by and I feel like I'm in the CHP. Most importantly I feel bloody safe in it for my sort of riding.

The Bad:

In a high speed crash the visor shattered and took a little slice outta my nose. However, to be fair to the manufacturer, I had already cracked it showing my daughter how it folded in a crash. It was unbolted and I wasn't gentle.

Overall Review:

I bought this as until the POC lids came on the market but they have lost themselves a customer. While there is not too much to protect in my melon this lid was well worth taking a punt on. It sits comfortably on my noggin and the protection down the back certainly doesn't impact on the cooling, particularly in New Zealand's muggy summers.

Awesome lid!

The Good:

Very light weight for amount of protection and quality of build. Good ventilation. Unique look. I was very impressed with the sweat absorber on the forehead. It really makes a difference! Plus a sticker kit and bag comes included!

The Bad:

Overall Review:

Surely one of the best performing enduro lids on the market.
