Giant is like a slow lumbering beast but they get around to current trends eventually. They should do a carbon reign 6.7" with 26 and 27.5 options and blow away every bike company on earth. Instead they going to take naps and produce just enough bikes to get their name out there, but will be out of stock by may 1st on all 2013 models lol. they don't like to do work.

Sweet to see Giant enter the 650B game. Although I would have expected them to put a completely revamped Reign on that size of wheels rather than some long-travelish Trance.
Next up: An all new Trek Remedy with 650B wheels, that platform is due for a complete overhaul. And then there's one big company left that keeps on yelling "no one needs 650B, 29ers for all!" Guess what company that could be.

Hope for a rear thru axle....

Don't care about either 650b or 29er. All I want is 26 Trance X with more travel, ISCG 05 tabs, slacker head angle geometry and internal cable routing.

A few more details for ya'll...

This is indeed a 650B Trance X. There was also an alloy version lurking around. It's lower, slacker, and has more travel than the current Trance. Adam Craig will be racing it in several enduro events this year. Oh, and YES, it has ISCG 05 tabs.

That looks like 5.5- 6" trance. I sure hope thats a trance and giant didn't decide to gay out the reign series and drop faith in same season. Giant late on the 650 bandwagon as usual but they can keep that big goofball machine. The 26er carbon reign 6.7" would be too good of a bike, riders would have a meltdown in their pants.

That looks awesome. I hope the rear travel is 5" or 5.5".

About time! Not that I've been waiting for a Carbon 650B Giant (especially since I just picked up my Stumpy Expert Evo Carbon) but it's good to see them putting one out there.

basically an updated reign, and finally in carbon!

    4/11/2013 1:35 PM

Actually it looks more like a Trance. It appears to be a 5" travel.

It is a reign, trance no longer has bend in top tube. Also, they might change the name to put in its own class

    4/11/2013 7:16 PM

Definitely not a Reign. Linkage on the suspension is completely different. The top tube is almost the same as the trance x 29er which has the bend. The reason Giant started back doing that is to lower the stand over height on the larger wheels. I have not read it yet but I would not be surprised if Giant does not discontinue the 26" Trance for 2014 and replace it with this bike. They already phased out the 26" Anthem this year as well as all but two 26" Trance models. Within the next 5 years you will hardly see a 26" FS. I work at a bike shop (which sells Giants) and we don't even stock them (26" fs) anymore because there is no demand.
