Not content with what the market already had to offer, Josh Carlson, Marcelo Gutiérrez, Eliot Jackson and the rest of the Giant Factory Racing squad are helping to develop new shoes to meet the needs of enduro and DH racers.
A major emphasis was put on reducing water retention and deformation when wet through the use of hydrophobic foam throughout. They are even testing various laces to see which type soaks up the least amount of water weight. Both shoes feature deep and long cleat slots to allow riders to find the optimum position, even if that's back further than normal.
The yet-to-be-named enduro shoe has a tacky rubber sole and the team is dialing in the stiffness. It will be offered in two colors down the road.
On the DH side you'll find a shoe with a wider forefoot and one-piece upper. What about a flat pedal version? You might see them in a low-top sometime in the future. The shoes are expected to officially launch later this year.
