As the only point of contact with the ground, tires can make or break how a bike handles the terrain. The classic Maxxis High Roller is designed for all-conditions use, maximizing the bang for our buck. It's a long time favorite of ours front and rear with good rolling speed and cornering bite. They go for $70 each and weigh 1,225g in the 2.5” size.

"Our single compound downhill tires use a rubber that tries to strike a good balance between traction and tread wear rather than focusing on ultimate grip. A single compound tire is easier to manufacture than our dual and triple compound tires, which helps to keep the cost down. Using a single durometer of rubber also reduces the materials cost for the tire. For privateer racers on a tight budget, we recommend running a single compound tire in the rear and either a Super Tacky or Maxx Grip in the front, depending on conditions." - Aaron Chamberlain, Maxxis
