Red Bull Rampage is only a few days away and the riders are showing up with their special ridge-riding, cliff-hucking rigs!

Mike Montgomery has chosen to run a Specialized Enduro Expert EVO with a custom, lowered Manitou Dorado that's dropped down to 180mm of travel. Mike has bumped up the air pressure in the Dorado to 100 PSI instead of his normal 70-ish PSI and compression is clicked up to the max. ODI bump stops keep the fork and frame protected. An Ohlins rear shock keeps the rear end on track.

Race Face SixC carbon cranks handle the hits and keep custom Specialized Benny pedals in place.

In the cockpit, Race Face Atlas Bars and Direct Mount stem take care of steering duties accompanied by extra-long ODI Long Neck grips. Additionally, a Race Face SixC post and Atlas saddle round out the build.

Hayes Prime disc brakes stop Mike on a dime while whirring Profile Elite hubs mounted to Sun MTX rims with Specialized Butcher DH tires let everyone know when he's railing his lines.

Mike's Rampage plan of attack? "Get to the bottom of the hill and then I win. Whether or not I get a trophy at the end, it doesn't matter. I'm still at the bottom of the hill, and that's winning."

Good luck out there, Mike!

This sounds like a stupid decision from Specialized, just to make more noise around the Evo. So gravity bikes from Spe are not well for the gravitiest competition ? Come on..
And why don' t he put some Mattoc instead of Dorado if he's confident in light stuff ?

martin rode a status last year. seems the newschool guys like a smaller bike whereas darren likes the stability and longness of the demo.

I think a few riders changed their minds last year and went to a bigger bike after originally planning on a smaller bike that tricks better. Something about those massive features...

having stroker aces on my operator.. i must say, ive only ridden it twice and i would not trust them riding gnar stuff, let a lone the freaking rampage, with two less pistons... they just lack the over all raw power.

dude is nuts.. or maybe i got a bad set..?

I have Stroker Ace's on two of my bikes and Prime's on one. I haven't had any problems with any of them for almost two years, but I definitely think the Prime's are a big upgrade from their older Ace (even if its fewer pistons)

that is quite odd.. oh well. i got them for super cheap... my stanchion tube squished the rear line on both rides, causing it to fail.. im going to give it another bleed and one last shot before i decide to sell em..

the front works really good, but just lacks overall power.. and the rear... well, i couldnt get it to stay alive lol
