I-Track Suspension System - INTERBIKE: Part 3 - Hidden Gems & More 2014 Products - Mountain Biking Pictures - Vital MTB
Born in a shed at the hands of Hugh McLeay, the I-Track Suspension System uses a floating idler pulley, unlike any other design we've seen before. Because of this, Hugh says he is able to optimize of all key factors of suspension design (pedalling, braking, axle path, wheel rate), without compromise. Shown here is the second prototype, which uses a four-bar linkage. The first was a single-pivot design. The idler is strategically configured with a linkage, so that it moves relative to the front triangle and the rear triangle. As the suspension moves, the idler moves relative to the front and rear sprockets, providing strategic control of the pedalling behavior throughout the entire range of travel. I-Track suspension is Patent Pending, and the company is looking for a manufacturer to jump on board and take it to market. Perhaps we'll see it more widely available in the future.
