2015 Ellsworth Dare Carbon - INTERBIKE Part 1: Outdoor Demo Rad Bits and Randoms - Mountain Biking Pictures - Vital MTB

The Dare is back and better than ever. Redesigned for 2015, Ellsworth has crafted the new Dare to be a 27.5-inch downhill, freeride, and enduro bike.

By swapping out the rear shock and rotating a flip chip system in the lower shock mount, it's possible to change the rear wheel travel from 225mm to 180mm to 160mm while maintaining "proper" geometry numbers for each mode. Of course you'll need to swap the fork, too.

In the longest travel DH setting with a FOX 40, the bike has a 63-degree headtube angle, 14-inch bottom bracket, and 17.5-inch chainstays.

Bikes will have a removable front derailleur mount. They'll also be offered in two graphics options, including a stealth black and the red you see here, but with some additional raw carbon highlights. This is the first bike to be built, so testing and further refinement are expected to happen before production.

The carbon front triangle and seatstay are combined with an alloy rocker and chainstay. Ellsworth has opted for a 12x142mm rear axle, up from the 135mm rear end the Dare used to use. A tapered headtube, internal cable routing, and bottle mount round out the list of features.

Ellsworth was very recently acquired by Southern California based BST Nano Carbon, and they plan to apply some of the company's nano tech knowhow into production bikes in key areas.
