Token morning weather shot for DH finals at the #underworldcup aka the first round of the US Grand Prix of Mountain Biking aka the 2nd round of the NW Cup. It rained overnight, was cold and foggy but the sun did its best to make an appearance.
2012 winner, yesterday's fastest qualifier and last guy down the hill. Devinci's Steve Smith for the win. All the huck-to-flat-go-ride-a-skinny Canadian heckling in the world can't slow him down.
Contour's Lacy Kemp and Diamondback's Kyle Thomas on the mic. They held the power and determined if a rider was hailed, heckled or sang happy birthday.
Josh Bryceland let it all hang out for a respectable 2nd place finish.
Connor Fearon, 3rd place among a heap of World Cup heavies.
Jill Kintner is on a streak in 2013. A Sea Otter victory followed by a win in Port Angeles today is proof she's on the hunt for World Cup success. Well done, Jill!
After lackluster qualifying, Aaron Gwin and Troy Brosnan looked at every section of track before riding their one allotted race day practice run.
While improving on his quali time, Aaron Gwin finished 4th, just .02 behind Connor Fearon.
Finals time means party time in the PNW woods.
Brook MacDonald, crushing his way to 5th place and primed for World Cup season.
Casey Brown and Miranda Miller trained together trying to find some speed to challenge Jill Kintner in the Pro Women's class.
Andrew Neethling, 6th place. 2nd through 7th place were all within the same two seconds...the racing was that close.
Andrew Neethling's bike box, running strong since early 2012.
Keeping warm and dry was half the fun and half the challenge today.
Mitch Ropelato trying to get out of the ruts, sliding around the insides of the corners.
PNW Greenery.
Darren Berrecloth taking Wu-Tang Financial's advice to heart...diversifying his bonds. A respectable result this weekend for the freerider.
Cold, early mornings mean frequent stops to the on-site coffee bus.
Luke Strobel, full blue steel status.
Graeme Pitts fan club.
Insert funny PNW local/Charlie Sponsel/Team Robot comment...FYI he crashed 2 seconds later.
Cedric Gracia back to up to race pace.
Jared Graves, *enduro* training.
Brosnan warming up for a big World Cup season.
Pro Women's Podium
Pro Men's Podium
All that's left of an epic race weekend. If you've never attended the #underworldcup, make room on your calendar for 2014. See you next year.

Description
Photos by Dave Trumpore Wet conditions, a World Cup field and the most energetic and creative crowd in the history of American downhill can only mean one thing...#UNDERWORLDCUP. Steve Smith and Jill Kintner reign supreme in the face of hecklers, blow-up dolls and slipper PNW conditions in Port Angeles.
