New from Giro is their women's Mantara helmet with MIPS. This lid boasts deep rear coverage, goggle strap grippers (see the grey rubber around the rear vents), an adjustable visor for goggles, good ventilation, and a hydrophilic, anti-microbial brow pad that can absorb up to ten-times its weight in sweat. Yummy. The Mantara MIPS is available in three colors: black, white, and turquoise.
Giro is also excited about the development of a compostable helmet liner with a recyclable plastic shell being used in their Silo urban helmet. This “bio-foam” liner is derived from corn instead of petroleum-based materials, yet performs like conventional foam. The bio-foam will only start decomposing in the environmental conditions present in composting. When these helmets are damaged or it's time for a replacement, you can disassemble the components for recycling. Yay planet earth, home of sweet trails!
