Looking to Rock the Mountain Bike Racing World, Young Pros Head to AZ

It's that time of year again! Top pro and junior racers are getting their skills dialed for another season and more podium finishes. Gene Hamilton of BetterRide is excited to have seven of the best young Pro's and Jr. Expert racers coming to Phoenix for a preseason skills camp March 9-11.

Graeme Pitts (Turner/X-Fusion), Trevor Trinkino (Yeti Factory), Luca Cometti (KHS Factory), Cody Kelly (Specialized US), McKay Vezina, Dylan Unger (KHS/Marzocchi), and Bryson Martin, Jr. (KHS/Marzocchi) are converging in Arizona to work with Gene and hone the core skills they learned in previous BetterRide camps.

KHS bikes picked up Luca Cometti late last year and he has been on a tear ever since, winning the last race of the ODI Southridge Series to take the Jr. Expert overall victory. He is looking to make the US Worlds Team and medal in the the 2012 World Championships.

Graeme Pitts was having a great season in 2011 with some region wins and encouraging results in the Pro GT Series when he unfortunately injured his knee in June. After surgery and rehab this fall he has been training hard (podium finish at the Reaper Madness Race in Bootleg Canyon last month) and hoping to build on his early season success from last year to have his best season yet.

Yeti's Trevor Trinkino really came into his own last season as a junior Cat 1 racer and made the US team for the Worlds. He went to the worlds but the airlines lost his bike and it was a few days late getting there. By the time it arrived he had missed most of the practice sessions and in his hurry to get some good practice runs in he managed break his leg on his first practice run! Trevor is a tough kid though, and he is ready to make people stand and notice this year in his rookie pro season! He is excited to leave the cold of Colorado and come down to Phoenix for spring training on world famous South Mountain.

Mckay Vezina is a 16 year old DH mountain bike racer. He rides for Yeti Cycles and Newbury Park Bike Shop. He started riding when he was 4, and hasn't looked back! He's now a 16-year-old sophomore at Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California and still loves riding bikes. In his first full year of racing Jr. Expert/Cat 1, he placed in the top 5 inevery race except one.

World Champion Ross Schnell is also making the trip South to update his skills training to make sure he is as sharp as possible for the 2012 season.
