WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 2012 BIKE PARKS BC ULTIMATE SUMMER OF FREERIDE CONTEST

VANCOUVER, BC July 05, 2012 – Summer is finally here, the bike parks are buff, and 2 lucky winners are about to have their ultimate summer of free riding with Bike Parks BC.  This year, two Grand Prizes were up for grabs each offering seasons passes to three of BC’s best lift-accessed bike parks plus cash, accommodation, rentals, guide, and extra lift tickets for the winner’s riding buddy.

“We had entries from all over the world, 23 different countries in all” says Martin Littlejohn, Executive Director of the Mountain Bike Tourism Association. “This is a contest that anyone can enter and everyone who does has a chance of being a finalist. The finalists had to tell our judges their story and convince them why they should be the chosen one.”

Though never an easy choice for the judges, this year 2 homegrown British Columbians captured the judges’ attention with their stories and passion for mountain biking.  Bike Parks BC is pleased to announce that the winners of the 2012 Ultimate Summer of Freeride contest are Jaclyn Arnold from Sparwood, BC and David Lee from North Vancouver, BC.

Jaclyn Arnold is a passionate pink loving 21 year old shredder who would like nothing more than to see more women getting dirty on their mountain bikes.  Her goal is to enter a BC Cup Race and show everyone she has the right stuff.  Jaclyn’s prize includes season’s passes to Silver Star, Panorama, and Fernie Bike Parks which will undoubtedly bring out the true competitor in her.  Way to go Jaclyn!

David Lee’s entertaining retrospective on lost bros from his “devastating middle-age mountain biking posse” and his plea to rekindle a new beginning was enough to earn him passes for the season to Whistler, Sun Peaks, and Mount Washington.  Congratulations David and may you make many new riding friends this summer!

Bike Parks BC would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s contest.  Be sure to check out all the bike parks that make up Bike Parks BC this summer.  Learn more at www.bikeparksbc.com or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/BikeParksBC.
