Press Release

Town of Granby to host DH Stage Race with $25,000 purse 3

On Memorial Day weekend (May 27-30) the town of Granby, CO and the SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch will host the second annual Triple DHip, a downhill mountain bike stage race.  Both professional and amateur racers will compete in three stages over three days for a combined prize purse of over $50,000.

Thanks to the Town of Granby, there will be a pro purse of $25,000 awarded to top finishers in the men’s and women’s categories.  In addition, the Triple DHip will offer over $50,000 in prizes to top finishers in the amateur categories.

Racers will compete on three separate race tracks at the now famous SolVista Bike Park at Granby Ranch, host of the National Championships of mountain biking in 2009 and 2010.  In only its fourth year of operations, the SolVista Bike Park has cemented its reputation for providing exciting racing events, challenging terrain, and great viewing opportunities for spectators.

The weekend will kick off on Friday evening May 27 with a pig roast, live music, and registration at Maverick’s Grille in downtown Granby.  There will be practice all day Saturday and the evening will feature a dirt-jumping exhibition and party in the park in downtown Granby, complete with food, music, entertainment, demos, kids' activities and a beer garden. Racing will commence on Sunday when riders will contest two stages.  The final stage and overall awards will complete the weekend’s festivities on Monday, May 30.
“We’re excited for the second annual Triple DHip race,” commented Matt Thompson, SolVista Bike Park director. “Thanks to the town of Granby’s sponsorship, the Triple DHip event now sits in the top tier of mountain bike events in the United States.”
